Galaxy had the kind of reputation for the humor that seemed to be lacking over at Astounding. It was well-placed with H. L. Gold. This was evident in a series of Christmas covers done by Ed Emshwiller between 1951 and 1960. We see Santa Claus in an alien-filled universe with extraterrestrial carolers or reindeer in spacesuits, and even a robot Santa. With a wink and a cheer, Galaxy wished its readers a happy holiday. Our topper was done by Frank Kelly Freas for the 1994 edition based on his earlier work for Fredric Brown’s Martians Go Home.

We’d like to do the same whatever you celebrate. Have a fun break, maybe read some Science Fiction while you put your feet up and have a hot bevy. Here’s wishing you all the happiness as we move into the Sci-Fi sounding year…2026.
